Jesper Nordin, compositeur, présente sa dernière création Sappho's Legacy
Lecture in English - Conférence en anglais

Abstract:
Jesper Nordin will talk about his music in general and more specifically about his latest piece "Sappho's Legacy" that is premiered at the Opera of Marseille on September 26 by L'Itinéraire, Musicatreize, Proxima Centauri and ten choirs.
His music, with its very characteristic influences from both rock music and Swedish traditional folk music, is a clear example of how technology can help a composer to be more intuitive in their composing. One very clear aspect of this that will be covered in the seminar is Jesper Nordin's development of his own compositional tool that now also exists as an iOS app called Gestrument (gesture-instrument) - www.gestrument.com
Gestrument is a very straight-forward mapping of musical parameters to gestures but has already proven to be a very powerful musical tool for composers in many genres. It will be made even more powerful next year by a second app that Jesper Nordin will develop focusing on composition techniques and material development that will be tied closely to Gestrument. Both his apps are developed in close collaboration with composer and software developer Jonatan Liljedahl - kymatica.com

Upcoming events include premieres by conductors like Kent Nagano and Daniel Harding as well as a four day portrait festival by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also had huge success with his iOS app Gestrument that is based on his own composition technique. It is used worldwide to create music in genres ranging from Electronica and Techno to Jazz impro and Contemporary classical music. His music is published by Edition Peters, Frankfurt.
