Loudspeaker Setup

Only the singers are transformed:

The electroacoustic part is played through an octophonic loudspeaker setup around the audience.

Directions for opening and running the Max patch

The folder found on the image should be copied directly to the hard disk. 

Launch Max

Set the File preferences to :

  • Filastrocca2014/B-obj-lib
  • Filastrocca2014/B-snd-lib
Quit and restart max

 

Open the ***filastrocca2014 patch

Press the Reset button.

Select the input midi device for the pedal that will trigger the events.

Choose the Pedal direction (the pedal will trigger an event when it is pressed down, or when it is released). 

Press the "Load sounds" button.

Click on the MIDI switch to turn on the MIDI routing. 

Click the "Dacs on" button.

The patch is ready to run.

Mixing Notes

The orchestra and the voices should be sligthly and naturally amplified to create a coherent balance with the electronic part.

Ideally, this piece should be performed in a reverberant concert hall. If the venue acoustic is too dry, please add a quite long artificial reverberation time with a good quality reverberation device.
