Lok-Yin Tang

La compositrice chinoise Lok Yin Tang a passé son doctorat de musique à l’Université d’Hong-Kong et étudié la composition avec Chan Wing Wah ainsi qu’avec Law Wing-Fai, puis la musique électronique avec Clarence Mak à l’Académie d’Hong-Kong pour les arts de la scène. Lok Yin Tang a assisté à l’Académie d’été de l’Ircam à Paris en 2001 et aux Cours d’été de Darmstadt en 2003. En 2002 et 2004, elle a obtenu une bourse de la Hong-Kong and Shanghai Bank Corporation pour étudier au Conservatoire central de Pékin et une autre bourse de l’Asian Cultural Council afin de participer au programme d’études de composition d’Aspen au Colorado. Sa pièce Volcanicity a reçu en 2006 le prix du Concours de jeunes compositeurs de Singapour. En 2007, le prix du Concours pour jeunes compositeurs du Festival Asie-Pacifique de Nouvelle-Zélande a été attribué à The Giving Tree II pour ensemble de chambre. Elle a récemment obtenu une bourse Fulbright pour travailler à New York en septembre 2007. Tang Lok Yin is currently a Doctor degree student, studying composition with Prof. Chan Wing Wah and Prof. Victor Chan at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she was awarded her Master degree of Music Composition. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage for Mr. Law Wing-Fai and Mr. Clarence Mak. Tang’s works have been frequently commissioned by local and overseas orchestras as well as international music festivals, including in Singapore, Japan, Israel, New Zealand, France, Poland and Denmark. Overseas programmes and courses she has attended include the Ircam Summer Course in Paris, Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music and Acanthes in France. She was also granted HSBC Scholarship to study at Beijing Central Conservatory of Music and an award from Asian Cultural Council, Lady Fung Memorial Music Fellowship to participate in the Composition Individual Studies program at the Aspen Music School in Colorado. Recently, she has been awarded Fulbright scholarship to conduct dissertation research in U.S. In 2006, she was awarded Young Composer Award for her piece “Volcanicity” at the SCO International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Composition. In 2007, her chamber ensemble piece “The Giving Tree II” was awarded 1st prize of Asian Pacific Festival Young Composer Composition Competition in New Zealand. In June, she was awarded The Outstanding Prize from the “Palatino” piano composition competition in China.
