Invocation comes from the Latin word "invocate", meaning "to call", "to demand". It is a supplication either to God or to a divinity, saint, spiritual being or demons.
Invocations are part of human nature to contact these ethereal beings. Summons are also used to draw out an evil spirit or force. They can also be used as commands or spells to control or gain favors. So also the invocation becomes a self-identification with certain spirits.
It is a succession of words, a message that acquires magical qualities.
This project comprises a series of works composed for soprano and electronics in real time, inspired by ancient Invocations, used to this day.
