Considered in an abstract way, the notion of “composition“ means the same as synthesis, that is putting together, connection, summary. I have constructed this piece on a melodica motive and its variants in different tempi and figurations. There are extended and condensed phases of the underlying motive. These motive phases imitate a sound as it could be created by the first Moog synthesisers in the 1960s which were modularly controlled. The idea for the frequent changes of the instrumental sounds which exist in “Synthesis“ and which are formed by the intertwined motive lines, has emerged based on the model of the synthesiser. In this sense the instrumentation in “Synthesis“ plays a key role. Thereby the synthetic aspect of the orchestral sound shall be elaborated.

Sessions de lectures pour grand orchestre

Parmi les jeunes compositeurs retenus pour suivre les ateliers de composition pour ensemble dirigé et musique de chambre avec l'Ensemble intercontemporain, le jury en a sélectionné 8 pour écrire également une courte esquisse pour orchestre. Ces esquisses font l'objet d'une lecture d'une quarantaine de minutes chacune par l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, sous la baguette du jeune chef Dylan Corlay et avec les conseils de Beat Furrer.
