While this piece is directly derivative of another piece of mine, my goal here was not simply to ‘paraphrase’ or somehow recreate the source work on a smaller scale. Instead, the source materials are distorted in an attempt to completely remove them from their original functions, and through this, hopefully removing any sort of need to listen to the source work from which they are derived. In other, and more metaphorical, words, my hope was to create a blank, clean slate from a multitude of very dirty slates.
