Born in 1976 in Milan, Filippo Zapponi began composing in 1988. In 1989, he started piano lessons with E. Garrone in Cernusco sul Naviglio (Lombardy, Italy). In 1994, following a traditional curriculum, he entered the classes of Ivan Fedele and G. Colombo Taccani in Milan. He also studied orchestration and analysis. In 1997, he began studying counterpoint, fugue, and composition with Ivan Fedele at the Como Conservatory, and in the same year, was accepted at the Strasbourg National Conservatory. In 2000, he received his degree with highest honours from the Como Conservatory. Following an invitation to participate in a workshop in Lugano (Switzerland), he composed a work that was broadcast on Swiss radio. Other works have been performed in Italy and France. Filippo Zapponi is currently living in Florence, where he works at Berio’s Centro Tempo Reale.
