At its core, Telematic Theater features the Audio-Visual Panner, a spatialization tool that synchronizes 3D performer positioning in spherical environments with 3D ambisonic and binaural sound. This correlation between sound, image, movement and space heightens the impact of telepresence, providing distributed audiences a powerful immersive experience as they view the performance within a digital volumetric space.
Telematic Theater operates as a virtual staging and rehearsal environment for the composer/scenographer to coordinate hundreds of stage parameters through precision presets and animated interpolation. The space is shaped by the compositional control of performer positioning, virtual camera choreography, along with background/foreground scenic layering, spotlight control, and extensive modulation of visual effects.
Telematic Theater ultimately blurs the boundaries between live performance, game interactivity, and cinematic storytelling, offering a hybrid tool that is an entirely unique form of performance stagecraft. Our approach is designed to redefine the collaborative relationship between director, artist, engineer, performer, and audience through the re-invention of the online performance space with each production. It also extends the reach of performance beyond geographic constraints, fostering new avenues for audience engagement. We believe the Telematic Theater represents the theater of the future, ushering in a new era of global, networked performance art.
