Composed by Michael Pelzel , concert on July 17, 2010
The string quartett Vers le vent… consists of two individual movements of which the second one is the principal one. In the first one, short aphoristic phrases or short musical ideas are cut together after each other. The idea was to cut short episodes of completely different musical caracters as short musical movements or film-cuts. Amongst each other, they form a bigger formal network each other in time. The second mouvement is very fasy fast, lively and “volubile”. Completely different from the first one, one single stringently forward moving musical caracter is established within the piece. There are short melodical and rhytmically clearly distinctable fragments in the foreground, contrasted by a slightly changing harmonical background. There is a slow middle section in the piece which is contrasted by a sort of a “reprise” of first musical idea.
