A Million People on One String a été écrit espressément pour les indications et une session d’enregistrement á Chicago, le 26 Janvier, 2008 par le Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Cliff Colnot dirigeait le session. Colnot est
le chef d’orchestre principall de la série contemporaine, MusicNow, une partie du Chicago Symphony Orchestra, et chef d’orchestre résidant du Civic Orchestra de Chicago et chef d’orchestre principle du Contemporary Chamber Players au University of Chicago.

Le titre pour cette pièce courte est a lorigine ’une ligne du poème de Wallace Stevens, The Man With the Blue Guitar, qui a été inspiré par la peinture de Picasso, The Old Guitarist.

A Million People on One String was written specifically for a reading and recording session that took place in Chicago on January 26, 2008 by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Conducting the session was Cliff Colnot, principle conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s contemporary MusicNow series, resident conductor of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and principal conductor of the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago.

The title for this short piece comes from a line in Wallace Stevens’ poem, The Man With the Blue Guitar, which was inspired by Picasso’s painting, The Old Guitarist.
