Generative AI challenges many of our assumptions about the nature of artistic creation, the powers of machines, and our ability to use them without being alienated by them. The book L’art au temps de l’IA. Generate, Critique, Create, published in 2025 by the Centre Pompidou, co-edited by Jean-Louis Giavitto and Pierre Saint-Germier, addresses these questions by focusing closely on contemporary artistic creation. It brings together contributions from artists, researchers, and curators to provide an overview of the new intersections between art and machine learning, based on their practices, computer tools, and representative works.

This book outlines new perspectives on how machines are unlocking new creative and critical dimensions in various artistic fields such as music, dance, architecture, visual arts, cinema, literature, and photography.

This event, moderated by Chloé Lukasiewicz, provide the opportunity for Pierre Saint-Germier and Jean-Louis Giavitto to present the book and talk with Marcella Lista, Nicolas Vayatis, Kevin Donnot, and the audience. The discussions will be punctuated by a listening session and the screening of an audiovisual work related to the book.
