Volker Böhm, born 1971 in Freiburg (Germany), is a musician, sound designer, programmer and composer who lives in Basel (Switzerland). As a freelancer he has been working at the Experimental Studio of the Heinrich Strobel Foundation of the SWR in Freiburg, at Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) in Karlsruhe and taught summer courses in electronic music in Croatia and Hungary. Since 2003 he is Professor for Electronic Music and head of the Audiodesign department at the Elektronisches Studio of the Music-Academy Basel (ESB). In addition to his teaching activities he realizes art, music and media projects in the fields of new music, theatre, (sound) installation and electroacoustic improvisation.

Volker Böhm works with Max and other tools to create music and sound design. He writes his own externals for Max to support his creative work, and has an interest in spectral processing and modular synthesis. In this talk he’ll show some of his recent coding work, and how it relates to his musical practice.
