Prior to the performance of Eva Reiter’s opera The Rise, interpreted in international sign language, a researcher and an actress/singer from contrasting yet complementary disciplines (philosophy of deafness, computer science, sound design, live performance, etc.) meet to discuss and investigate.

What creative processes are involved in bringing sign language to the stage? How does the sign language/machine interface enable the creation of a new form of transmission?
